The Arboretum Barnes & Noble Event
01/12/09
|
What a great event! Friends and family came out To see the signing
I'm getting psyched up for my book signing at the Barnes and Noble in the Arboretum area of Austin, Tx at 2:00 this Saturday!!!! I'm one of 5 new writers that was invited to this, so it'll be fun I think. Yay!!!!!
I'm so excited! After a post-hurricane Houston lull (I had several book signings scheduled that were, of course, cancelled due to Ike), I've got a book signing scheduled for New Bremen Coffee & Books on Friday, December 26th, from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.!!!! Looks like I may have a New Writers book signing at Barnes and Noble on January 10th here in Austin as well. It's gearing up again after the holidays! WHOOOOOT!
The book signing was wonderful. I had two surprise guests show up. My Dad dropped no clue he was coming, just showed up, and it was so delightful to see him! He lives only an hour and a half away, but we both live pretty busy lives, so I don't get to see him as much as I would like. So that was a gift in and of itself. The really HUGE surprise is that my very best friend from college, whom I lost contact with and haven't seen in 15 years was there! I started crying, she started crying, and we were so happy to see each other. We went out to dinner afterwards and started catching up. Terri's just as sweet and beautiful as ever, and her son is fierce. There were just the right amount of people, the right energy, it was just great. I mentioned that Brandi is an actor who is going to be performing the audio book, and a lot of people got excited about this project. Not nearly as excited as I am, but there was an enthusiastic response nonetheless. I can't wait to hear her rendition of "Ghosts." As soon as I can afford booking a studio and Brandi and Kris, the photographer, can schedule this in, we will have our audio cd available. There's so many people coming out of the woodworks, it's wonderful! It's also surreal and overwhelming, but in an oddly great way. Woah, what a wild ride. Brandon & Terri My first book signing Brought my long-lost college friend Back into my life If that's all there is To this book publishing ride I'm a happy girl. Dad & Me

Since the author of "The Ghosts of Wolf Creek" Kimberly M. Dillon found out her book was going to be published, her partner of 10 years, Rhonda Kissinger, has been experiencing strange phenomenon. "It's eerily haunting," said Kissinger of the effects of her partner's non-fame. One night Kissinger, who used to work in a haunted CPS office in a rural corn field, awoke to see a strange green glow in the kitchen. Slowly she crept out of bed and walked towards the creepy sight. "A human figure appeared to be silhouetted by this ghostly light," said Kissinger. Bravely going towards the other-wordly vision, Kissinger realized her partner was up yet again at 3:00 in the morning typing on her computer. "Well, it was 'dead time,'" explained Kissinger of her jumpiness. Of the young adult mystery book which Kissinger has never read, she says, "It's a must-read on the graveyard shift."

Book Review
08-01-2008 |
With ten days to go For my first "Ghosts" book signing Comes a good review "Award-winning Parent:Wise humor contributor Kimberly Dillon charts a different course in this novella for young adults. Set in the fictional small town of Nathan, Texas, it tells the story of 12-year-old Cora, who wakes up from a car accident with the ability to see ghosts. Specifically, the ghosts of people killed in a mysterious town tragedy in 1863--all of whom urge her to tell "the truth" about what happened. Although frightened at first, Cora eventually welcomes the ghostly visitors and wants desperately to help them. But how can a 12-year-old girl change history in a town that's been lying to itself for nearly 150-years? The answer is by following one's moral compass, and seeking the support of other truth-seekers. Ms. Dillon's first novel is filled with sensitivity, morality and wit; and, at just 69-pages, is a good, quick read for kids ages 8 and older. (Note: Ms. Dillon will be reading from her book and signing copies on Aug. 17 from 2-2:30 p.m. at BookWoman in Austin and on Aug. 22 from 12-12:30 p.m. at BookBasket in Bastrop.)" by Kim Pleticha, Editor of "Parentwise" Magazine
I just got this comment on my website, and I am so verklempt!!! "I have read this book and shared it with my family and friends. Both adults and children found it deliciously enthralling as we each took turns reading it aloud around a campfire on a three day family reunion camp out. I found your characters so believeable that I feel like I have known them. You are a good writer, Ms. Dillon. I do hope you plan on writing more books. I think this book would make a great movie. I wondered if your book is available in audio format. We often sponsor youth camp outings and it would make our travel time quieter and much more enjoyable. Sincerely, Jack Gordon" I have no idea who Jack Gordon is, but I could just kiss him. Wow. Thanks also to my good friends Kandi, Sarah, and Stephanie who have all posted comments and recommended middle names of Cora. Heh, this is fun.

Terry Haggerty from the Bastrop Advertiser interviewed me tonight at Scooter's Coffee Shop in Bastrop, Texas. He was super nice and easy to talk to. It may be on the front page! First book signed. I remember as a kid sitting at the table and practicing my autograph when I became a published author. I would try out different messages and way to sign my name: "Keep your dreams alive! ~Kimberly D." or "Enjoy! ~Kimberly Dillon" ad infinitum until it was really quite ridiculous.
